Timberwolves in the Chiles
Baseball Invitational. The
Lions were led by Spencer
Gilleon (1-0), who pitched a
two hit complete game for
the win. The Lions were led
by Nick Deckert, Walker
Crum, and Ian Maser with two
hits each.

In the
nightcap, the Lions faced an
always tough Lincoln team.
With the Trojans leading
2-0, the Lions exploded for
an eight run fourth inning
which saw eleven Lions bat
including three RBIs from
Josh Brown and Keith Wilson.
Brendon Malson added two
more to complete the
scoring. Nick Deckert (1-0)
came in for relief and
picked up the win for the
Lions.

In the final
game of the Chiles Baseball
Invitational, the Lions
faced the Marianna JV
Bulldogs. The Lions were led
at the plate by Josh Brown
(2-3, 2 doubles, 2 RBIs) and
Chris Nimer (2-2). Nick
Deckert also had a hit and
two RBIs. Brother, Ryan
Deckert (1-0) came in for
relief and picked up the win
for the third victory of the
season and the tournament
champions.

The Baby Lions suffered it’s first loss of the season to the Rickards JV team. In the bottom of the sixth, Blake McKnight doubled in the final run of the game for the Raiders. The Lions were led by Spencer Gilleon (2-4, run scored, two RBIs) and Matt Grunden had two RBIs. Nick Deckert (1-1) came in the bottom of the sixth and took the first loss of the season.

In the first home game for the Baby Lions, Matt Grunden went 2-3 and Brenden Malson (0-1) pitched a great game, but it wasn’t enough to win the game against the Timberwolves. With the scored tied 1-1 in the sixth, Chiles scored two runs and the Lions couldn’t answer.

The Lions scattered six hits but committed six errors in the loss to the Timberwolves. Ian Maser (0-1) took the loss for the Lions, giving up four runs. At the plate, six players had one hit each with Stephen Shields and Josh Brown leading the charge with doubles. Shields also scored the only run for the Lions.
