The
Lions lost a heartbreaker in the semifinal round of the
District tournament at Chiles High School. The Lions
came into the game tied for first in the District with
Chiles, but finished second in the tournament seeding
after a coin flip. Jordan Priddle took the loss on the
mound for the Lions going 6 innings and allowing only 2
earned runs as a third inning error proved critical to
the Lions hope. Richard Mattox pitched a scoreless
seventh inning in relief. The Lions were led at the
plate by Brandon Tune (1-4, HR, 2 RBI). Tyler York,
Spencer Gilleon, Raleigh Devore, and Payson Smith also
contributed with one hit apiece.

The
Lions lost a close game to intercity rival Godby on
Senior night at Lions Stadium. Richard Mattox was
saddled with the loss on the mound for the Lions
pitching in relief of starter Todd Dye. Mattox allowed 2
runs (0 earned runs) as two errors by the Lions proved
critical on this night. Dye pitched 4 innings giving up
only 2 runs on five hits. The Lions were led at the
plate by Casey Smith (2-4, 2 2B) and Tyler York
(2-3).

Lincoln - 4 The
Lions moved their district record to 3-1 on a big win
over Lincoln at Leon. Jordan Priddle pitched a complete
game for the win for the Lions. Priddle allowed six hits
and only two earned runs in his outing. The Lions were
led at the plate by Tyler York (2-3, HR, 1 2B, 2 RBI),
Casey Smith (2-4, HR), Brandon Tune (2-4, 1 RBI) and
Spencer Gilleon (2-4, 2 RBI). The Lions will await the
Chiles/Lincoln game to determine the district
champs.

County - 8 The
Lions made seven costly errors in the game allowing 5
unearned runs in the loss to Coffee County. Nick Deckert
started the game on the mound for the Lions and was
saddled with the loss after pitching 2 innings. Deckert
was relieved by Todd Dye, who pitched the remaining 5
innings. The Lions were led at the plate by Tyler York
(2-3) and Brandon Tune (2-4).

Timberwolves. The Lions made a comeback in the last half
of the seventh inning by scoring two runs in the inning.
The Lions were led at the plate by Casey Smith (2-4, HR,
1 R, 1 RBI). Jordon Priddle was saddled with the loss on
the mound after pitching 4 innings and giving up only 3
hits. Priddle was relieved by Richard Mattox, who
pitched 3 scoreless innings for the Lions. The Lions
district record fell to 2-1.

Rutheford - 7 Leon
continued its hot hitting from Saturday’s game against
Godby by scoring 10 runs on 10 hits against Rutherford.
The Lions were led at plate by Tyler York, hitting a
3-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to regain
the lead for the Lions that they would not relinquish.
For the night York was 2-4, HR, 4 RBI. The Lions
were also led at the plate by Mac Hagan (3-3, 2 R),
Spencer Gilleon (1-1, 3 BB, 2 R). Ryan Deckert started
the game on the mound for the Lions and pitched 5
complete innings. Deckert was relieved by Mac Hagan (1
inning), who was credited with the victory, and Brandon
Phillips (1 inning), who picked up the save for the
Lions.

- 9 The Lions
came back from a tough loss the night before riding some
hot bats on this warm Saturday afternoon. The Lions
overcame 5 errors in the game by scoring their 11 runs
on 11 hits including a three-run home run by Brandon
Tune. The Lions were led at the plate by Casey Smith
(2-4, 1R), Jarod Walker (3-4, 2R, 1 2B, 1 RBI), Jordan
Priddle (3-3, 3 R, 1 RBI), Brandon Tune (1-4, 1 HR, 3
RBI). Spencer Gilleon picked up the victory on the mound
in his second start by pitching 5 innings and giving up
only 3 earned runs. Todd Dye came in to pitch the final
two innings to earn his first save on the
year.
3/19/10 Leon Lions -
3 Gulf
Breeze - 4 Leon lost a
close ball game by surrendering 4 runs in the top of the
sixth inning to lose 4-3. The Lions started out strong
against Gulf Breeze ace Ben Whitely by scoring three
runs in the first three innings against the hard
throwing right hander. The Lions had an opportunity to
tie the game in the bottom of the 7th inning
when Payson Smith led off with a double down the right
field line, but was left at third base when the inning
ended. Jordan Priddle had another strong outing for the
Lions on the mound by pitching three scoreless innings
to start the game and only giving up two hits. Ryan
Deckert came on in relief to pitch 2 1/3 innings.
Deckert was relieved by Brenden Malson, who was saddled
with the loss on this evening. Richard Mattox came on to
pitch the final 1 1/3 innings for the Lions. Leon was
led at the plate by Jarod Walker, Mac Hagan, Jordan
Priddle, Richard Mattox, Raleigh Devore, and Payson
Smith all with one hit apiece. Priddle and Smith
contributed with RBI.

Wakulla - 3 Brandon Tune drove in the game winning run
in the bottom of the 7th inning with a single
to right for an exciting victory for the Lions. The
Lions struggled for much of the night against starter
Jose Linton from Wakulla until finally breaking through
with 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning
to take a 3-1 lead. That lead was short-lived however
when the Lions gave up 2 unearned runs to Wakulla in the
top of the sixth to tie the game. In the bottom of the
7th Tyler York led off the inning with a
single to left. Jordan Priddle then reached on an error
by the first baseman setting up the game winning hit by
Tune. Nick Deckert pitched six strong innings before
being lifted after one batter in the 7th
inning. Richard Mattox came on in relief to get Wakulla
to ground into a double play on the first batter he
faced then retired the next batter on a grounder back to
the pitcher. Deckert had six strikeouts in his
performance, giving up only one earned run on nine hits
and walking just two batters. The Lions were led at the
plate by Tyler York (2-3, 1 RBI, 2 R), Jordan Priddle
(2-3, 1 RBI), Casey Smith (1-4), Jerod Walker (1-4), and
Brandon Tune (1-2, GW RBI, 2
SAC).

took an early lead in the district race (2-0) by beating
Lincoln on this Saturday evening 8-5. Leon looked strong
from the outside as pitcher Jordan Priddle socked a
two-run home run in the top of the 2nd. From
there the Lions never looked back despite some anxious
moments in the bottom of the 7th inning.
Priddle was effective on the mound once again for the
Lions as he pitched five hit ball over 5 2/3 innings
allowing 4 runs, 2 earned runs while striking out six
batters. Richard Mattox came on in relief in the bottom
of the sixth inning and pitched well in the
7th inning giving up only one hit on a solo
home run and getting out of a jam caused by two Leon
errors. Leon was led at the plate by Priddle (1-2, 2
R-HR, 3RBI), Tyler York (2-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI, Casey Smith
(2-4) and Mac Hagan (2-3, 2R, 1 RBI). Brandon Phillips
and Jerod Walker also contributed with a hit
apiece

Valdosta High - 5 Leon
lost a heartbreaker last night with the tying and
winning runs in scoring position in the bottom of the
7th inning. The Lions got a strong pitching
performance by Spencer Gilleon in his first start of the
season, although he was saddled with the loss.
Gilleon pitched 4+ innings only giving up one run
assigned to him in the top of the 5th inning.
Gilleon was relieved on the mound by Brendon Malson, Mac
Hagan, and Brandon Phillips. The Lions pitchers
only allowed 3 earned runs on the night. Leon was
led at the plate by Casey Smith, Brandon tune, Raleigh
Devore, Brandon Phillips, Jordan Priddle, and Jared
walker all with one hit apiece.

10 Not much
went right for the Lions in the 2nd game of a
double header. The Lions gave up 10 runs in the first
three innings and saw their record drop to 6-3 on the
season. The Lions were led at the plate by Casey Smith
with two hits. Todd Dye took the loss for the Lions on
the mound. Ryan Deckert also pitched in relief for the
Lions

Fe - 7 Leon won the
game on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 7th
inning. Casey Smith scored the winning run after
reaching base on an error. Smith advanced to
3rd on a botched pick off attempt prior to
scoring the winning run. Brandon Phillips picked up the
win in relief by pitching a scoreless 7th
inning. Jordan Priddle pitched well in his start going 4
innings and giving up only 2 runs on four hits. Priddle
was relieved by Richard Mattox and Brenden Malson. The
Lions were led at the plate by Brandon Tune (2-2, RBI
double), Tyler York (1-2, 2 RBI), and Brandon Phillips
(1-3, 2 RBI). Also picking up hits for the Lions were
Payson Smith, Spencer Gilleon, Jordan Priddle, Raleigh
Devore, and Jared Walker.

Coffee County - 3 Nick
Deckert pitched well for the Lions but took the
loss. Richard Mattox came in and pitched a good 2
innings. The offense was very quiet for the Lions
with only 3 hits. Jordan Priddle had a double and
Tyler York and Spencer Gilleon both with a single.

Chiles - 1 Jordan Priddle
pitched a gem to give Leon the District lead backed
by a solid defense. Priddle went the
distance with 10 strikeouts allowing only 3 hits and giving
up only 1 unearned run. Tyler York led
the offense going 3-3, Casey Smith had an RBI double,
Jared Walker had a SAC fly scoring 2 runs.
Spencer Gilleon, Jordan Priddle, Brandon Tune all had hits as
well.
2/25/10 Leon Lions -
10 Smith
Station - 0 The Lions jumped out to a
quick 6-0 lead in the first inning. Nick Deckert
pitched 5 solid innings and struck out 9 batters picking
up the victory.
Tyler York went 2 - 2 with a double and 3 RBI's.
Casey Smith went 3-3 with 3 runs scored. Spencer
Gilleon was 2-3 with 2 RBI's.
2/23/10 Leon

9 Rickards
- 7 Leon built up a
9-3 lead only to hang on in the last inning as Rickards
put 4 runs in the top half of the 7th inning.
The Lions were led at the plate by Spencer Gilleon (2-4,
2 RBI) and Mac Hagan (1-3, 2 RBI double). Six other
Lions contributed to the hit parade with one hit apiece.
Ryan Deckert started on the mound and pitched three
strong innings giving up 2 runs (1 ER) while striking
out 3. Deckert was relieved by Brandon Phillips, Brenden
Malson and Spencer Gilleon. Phillips picked up the win
with two innings of strong relief work. Gilleon picked
up the save for the Lions by coming in the top of the
7th to pick up the last three
outs by striking out 2 of the 4 batters he
faced.
2/19/10 Leon Lions -

- 4
Leon won big in Panama
City tonight against the Rams. Jordan Priddle
pitched 4 2/3 innings striking out 8. Richard
Mattox pitched the final 2 innings in relief.
Offensively for the Liions, Mac Hagan hit a 2 run
Homerun, Gary Boynton went 2 for 2, Payson Smith had a 2
run double. Defensively the Lions played great
turning 2 double plays.

Wakulla - 6
Leon lost a heartbreaker in extra
innings on this extremely cold night. Nick Deckert
started the game on the mound going 3 1/3 innings with 8
strikeouts and no decision. Todd Dye, Brenden
Malson, Richard Mattox all pitched in relief with Mattox
being saddled with the loss. Leon was led at the plate
by Spencer Gilleon (2-3) and Tyler York (1-4, 3-run
HR).

7 Santa
Fe - 5 The Lions got the 2010
season off to a great start on a cold night in
Gainesville. Leon beat Santa Fe 7 to 5 in the "First
Pitch" Tournament. Jordan Priddle struck out 10 in
3 1/3 innings. Priddle also had 2 hits, Tyler York
hit a 2 run homer, Raleigh Devore had a
triple and Brandon Tune had a
double.
