HEAD VARSITY COACH AARON CLARK

Coach Clark enters his eighth year as the Lions Head Coach.  He is a 1989 graduate of Leon High, where he was a three year starter and a member of the 1987 final four team.  He was chosen as MVP, All Big Bend, and All-State in 1989.

He attended Lake City Community College on a baseball scholarship from 1989-1991.  During his two years at LCCC, he earned the team honors of Rookie of the Year ('90), Best Defensive Player ('90,'91), Most Outstanding Offensive Player ('91), and Most Valuable Player ('91).  He was selected All Conference and All-State in 1990 and 1991.  In 1991 he was also selected as the Mid-Florida Conference Player of the Year and to the Junior College All Southeast Regional Team.  He was selected and started in all four (fall and spring) JUCO All-Star Teams during his two years.  After being recruited by over 30 Division I schools, Coach Clark chose to accept a scholarship from Florida State and play in his hometown.  A shoulder injury cut short his playing days at Florida State.

Coach Clarks begins his thirteenth season coaching at Leon.  His duties have included coaching the Junior Varsity and assisting on the Varsity prior to becoming Head Coach.  Coach Clark was the Assistant Head Coach on the Lion's 1998 State Championship Team.  He has participated in five final four appearances as a player and coach at Leon, including two runner-ups, and one state championship.  He has also served as the head of Leon's summer league teams and is the current director of Leon's summer baseball camp.

During the previous 7 years, with the guidance of Coach Clark at the helm, the baseball program has been to the state playoffs twice, won a District Championship, two JV City Championships, dominated on the 9th grade level and signed 12 players to baseball scholarships. Coach Clark recently completed his second full marathon in Orlando and are looking forward to more challenges ahead.

Coach Clark has a B.S. Degree in Social Science from FSU and teaches in the Social Studies department at Leon.  He is married to Christine Clark and they are the proud parents of Courtney and Abby Clark.

Dwayne Moore, Freshman Head Coach

Coach Moore enters his fourth year as the Freshman Head Coach.  An 1989 graduate of Leon High, Coach Moore lettered in basketball and baseball his junior and senior years, where he was a two year starter, in both sports and a member of the 1988 District Runner-up Baseball team.  In 1988, Coach Moore won the batting award (.455 average) and led the team in stolen bases (45).  As an outfielder, He was chosen as a member of the All-Big Bend team in 1988 and 1989 and ended his career with a .432 average and a remarkable 80 stolen bases in 82 attempts.   After high school, Coach Moore played college ball at FAMU, where he led the Rattlers in steals (48) and on base percentage (.754) in 1990.  He continues to work with the FAMU baseball program throughout the year.

Coach Moore started as an assistant coach with the Freshman team in 2004. In 2005, He left the program to become the head coach of FAMU High, where the program had a 12-8 record in it's first year of baseball in over ten years. He returned to the program a year later to become the Head Coach of the Freshman team.

Coach Moore holds the record for most stolen bases in a game at Leon (10 vs. Brooks County, GA). As a player, he also has the distinct honor of being the only black player in the history of the program to 1) lead the team in batting (1988) and 2) hit over .400 in consecutive years 1988 (.455) and 1989 (.409). As a coach, he is the only black coach to lead any team in the program’s history.

Personally, Coach Moore is the proud parent of three boys, DeAndre (16 junior at Leon), Malik (11), and Dwan (5).
